We eat Uruk-hai for breakfast

W.B.A away. It's hardly the Mines of Moria. You won't find Orcs but you'll probably stumble over Lilywhite skeletons of fallen soldiers. As for confronting a Balrog and falling into an abyss? No time for such improbable mourning. We've already lost and made our brilliant white return. Fleeing the Hawthorns however with grim faces will be no victory. Unless the precious points are gripped in our hand. It's going to be tricky. When is it ever anything less? Would hardly be an adventure if it was only made up of a skip and a song in a field. Dead Marshes aplenty up ahead for our Fellowship.

This journey was never going to be an easy one. We continue to fight against our insecurities and question whether we have the perseverance to last. Even with our good form, I ask myself what if we lose say one or two to injury? Or if we're beaten, how will we react? Same old same old? Defaulting to in-fighting and disarray? Bare bones, backs to wall, Helms Deep? Sometimes you need that reminder to dig that deeper and against the odds claim the win.

W.B.A away. It's not Helms Deep. It's more like The Shire with the odd scary firework display. No epic battle expected.

Still, we don't have the best of records there. If that isn't inspiration enough to turn up, turn on and turn them inside out I don't know what is. This is another test of our resolve. Of our patience. Every battle we face in the coming weeks, regardless of how comfortable it may look in the build up, should be faced with the same tenacity we'd show to a more powerful enemy. Regardless of the opposition, a win equates to a trilogy. Every battle should retain the same level of importance as the last. Even if some are more final than others. We've still got Mordor to contend with and their Army of the Dead. But that's still a while off.

For now, focus. No complacency. Take nothing for granted. Display desire.

There is no hiding place. You wont find any Eagles to hitch a ride with either.

Believe.

Oh dear spooks. NRC a better player http://www.dearmrlevy.com/dml/2007/5/31/its-happened-again.html#comments

The NRC comment was a joke. The entire article was taking the piss out of the majority that screamed out in terror at the thought of us signing him.

However...I did actually agree with the majority up until Parker signed for us. He never impressed me and I couldn't quite rely on West Ham (regardless of the award he won) to warrant inclusion in our side. Have already publicly 'eaten my hat' over this. Quite a few of us have.

Actually, sorry mate, discount the above. Just noticed the linked article was dated 2007. Which means that article wasn't a joke (well, apart from the NRC comment, I'm keeping that).

Let's go Spurs. This is not the time to bottle it.

Nov 25, 2011 at 11:37 PM | Unregistered CommenterIaG

Last time out it was 'don't bottle it at home', now it's 'don't bottle it away'.

Nov 25, 2011 at 11:40 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

I don't believe the majority of Spurs fans were opposed to signing Parker at all.
Seven minutes into his debut at Wolves he made a tackle and the travelling yids sang the Super Scotty Parker song. Did that one tackle instantly won them from opposition to support? Or is it more likely that only a tiny minority of Spurs fans take part in online debates?

For tomorrow I think the important thing is to treat it as just any other game.
Every game is worth just three points. If we win most of them we challenge the untouchables. But we will slip up every now and then, that is just the way of football even for our new improved Spurs. So long as we win 3 out of every 4 we are fine. So a draw or defeat up there is not the end of the world so long as we win the next couple of games.
Having said that I predict a victory, 2-0, or maybe 2-1. COYS !!

I think being a spurs fan you've summed it all up spooky, still waiting for the wheels to come off!! But maybe this is it finally we have a team that can make it, where as before it was two steps forward then three back this team has the confidence to push on and WBA is a game that Man utd would enter with no fear and win, and after Villa (as poor as they were) these are the games we tend to take our feet off the gas and lose ground. I think the games over december, most apart from chelsea and man city games we'd expect to win, Spurs need to treat it like they're playing the teams i've mentioned above full steam ahead until the final whistle of the season take no prisoners go for it. This is the season i think we could cement a top 4 place chelsea, arsenal and liverpool hav'nt got half the squad spurs have, if we finish in that top 4 we can build and starting with west brom tomorrow its time to show our intent! Thankyou and goodnight, thanks for reading my drunken ramblings!

Just wanted to confirm that although some may read forums or articles and think alot of spurs fans think a particular way, the fact is the majority of spurs supporters neither read these forums, contribute to them, nor share the mindset often found online.

Proof is in the numbers, if we get a statistic report from all the fansites forums based on ip reads and not just a handful of returning contributors or readers, it will demonstrate alot of the negative stuff comes from site's eager to get their hit rate's up.

We get a few spud fans posting on Arsenal sites talking crap to try gee us up, do I am posting here, altho not to gee up.
So do u really think spurs are soo much better than Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea? I think a good team u have but not better than the others. Can't fault ur optimism but I feel injuries and fatigue will get to ur players as it will Arsenal, so it's really a matter of who will limp over the finishing line, not being way better. I also think Chelsea won't improve enough and hope a decline is on. Liverpool are running on 'king kenny' crap for now and city will drop points then egos will come in to play, has to be a great manager to stop that...it's just utd to win it again. Arsene is a great manager and can turn average players into great players and had won stuff before my money is on Arsenal but hey of course is it....
May The best team win...

Let's all get behind the team as one massive and harmonious 'unit'.

Now that the Harry 'haters' have all gone quiet and a line has been drawn under the Stratford disgrace, we can all move forward as one. ;-)

coys, thanks for the vid with Phil Thompson. I've always liked his open appreciation of good football even if sometimes its a little pool focussed. I tell you what though, those scandi presenters had some decent movember contributions.

cuba montana - you want to hear negativity? Try going to White Hart Lane once in a while. People's opinions don't get any worse or better just because they're shared online or in a pub.

the boy Cuba has a point tho spooky. The Internet brings out strong opinions, by definition nobody is going to bother posting something they don't feel strongly about. The the whole Harry out nonsense (nice coat turning above by the way, tmwnn) is a perfect example. Sites such as your own, Harry hospur etc, were full of people ranting about how Redknapp was ruining the club and should be fired. And yet in all my visits to whl in the last couple if seasons, chatting to mates and fellow fans in pubs and in the stadium, I nevernencountered a single person who thought Redknapp should be fired.

Bit worried about today. I do like Odemwingie and was much more confident before I heard he was back from injury. Long is also a good player and even Tchoi is a dangerous (if laughable inconsistent) customer. But we made light of Bent and Agbonlahore - statistically better strikers - so maybe I'm worrying too much.

let's plump for a hard earned 3-1 win, similarmto Fulham but hopefully not quite as hard earned.

Always find I get more comments/hits when we lose than when we win, so its far easier to bitch, complain and knee-jerk than it is to smile.

The issue with Redknapp with many isn't so much his tactical/coaching/man management abilities but rather how he turns into Brand Redknapp when things are not going his way. People who hate him dislike traits of his personality but most would agree he's done the job so many have failed at.

Nov 26, 2011 at 10:00 AM | Registered Commenterspooky

Great read spooks, but who's who in this analogy. I guess scott parker would be Gandalf if this team were to battle the demons of Helms Deep he would be the one to sacrifice everything for the sake of the team. Modric has got to be Frodo, the central character the slight and unassuming hero who has to bravely lead his team into battle while constantly struggling against the irresistible tempatations of Mordor (Chelsea) deep within the recesses of his soul. Gareth bale could equally be cast as an orc or Aragon Depending on the camera angle. any other suggestions????

Have to hang my head in shame, as I have lamblasted Redknapp when I see him interviewed and he is voicing his opinion on Levy's dealings (especially with Modric). His methods, I never questioned, and on reflection, maybe he was right to say, just sell Modric and bring in a couple of committed players. We will never know. But one thing I do know about him is , he can manage a team and get them playing together. For that Harry, I take my hat off in salute.

Nov 26, 2011 at 11:46 AM | Unregistered Commentercookiebun

No awards are handed out this side of Christmas, so it's too early to rain accolades down on Redknapp just yet. Conversely, only a fool would want him out at this point in time. It's the players' opinions which count, and they all (the important ones anyway) have glowing praise for him and are responding well to his management style, which is really all that matters.

It's hardly a secret that I can't stand bloke, but what really gets my goat is how he reacts when things aren't going well. If this season fizzles out to 5th or below like last season, i.e. failure, I will again be calling for his wobbly fat head, but in the meantime, keep up the good work.

Nov 26, 2011 at 5:11 PM | Unregistered CommenterScalytomato

Good work kept up! Not pretty at times, but 9 wins in 10 is really special. How many chances does Adebayor want. I was beginning to believe that he was mutating into a black Crouch. Bolton (h), Stoke (a) and Sunderland (h) in the next 3 before the blue scum at home. Win those 4 (or at least 3 if it includes the blue scum), and it will be like Father Christmas has come early!

lol,
spooky, I am one from this "army" you called out..... but I do enjoy reading others' jubilation points with which I agree. I’m afraid that my praises of the team would bring a bad luck, and therefore as long as we’re steamrolling through PL I’ll try hard to shut my gob as much as I can.

As for Harry R., I feel quite the opposite about him that what is spouted from the TMWNN-type morons. I sincerely hope that other people in their lives treat them with the same garbage attitude as they treat Harry. They certainly do not deserve any better.

I don't know what you are watching if you don't give Harry credit for getting this thing right. 1. Parker. 2. Giving Walker a chance. 3. Persisting with Lennon when he looked pony at beginning of the season.

Sandro looks rusty, not the emerging force he was last year but that is why there is europa. L

Nov 27, 2011 at 4:54 AM | Unregistered Commentertim

Harry's 'traits' blind some of us to his good points.

As for Lennon, I've been in support of the lad and some fans have been near disgraceful with their knee-jerking expecting him to be full pelt on his first game back into the side. Sometimes patience lacks.

I actually don't like reading your blog, newsnow, or glory-glory whenever we lose or go through a bad patch. The times I enjoy reading negative comments like "out-with-'Arry" or "Player X/Y/Z played crap" is after we had won.

"Harry is OK, he's done his job, he's used his turkey neck to save us from relegation. Oh and he's also got us into the Champs League... Now what we need is a more tactically astute manager to "take us to the next level"...blah blah blah"

Errr... actually, I believe we are at the "next" level. COYS!!!
