Spurs v Spammers: Match Thread

Line-up.

Cudicini

Hutton, Corluka, Bassong, Bale

Lennon, Jenas, Huddlestone, Modric, Van der vaart

Crouch

SUBS: Pletikosa, Palacios, Sandro, Kranjcar, Giovani, Pavlyuchenko, Keane.

Yes, that's Charlie at CB. Shudder. Middle five looks epic, as long as JJ turns up for it. Not short on creation. No King, Bassong or Kaboul. In fact, no defenders on the bench. Not one. Champions League the priority for Harry. Stud Bale at left-back. I'm disappointed. But BAE picked up a knock, so tinkering had to be done. Gallas I guess is still not 100%.

Having also seen the West Ham side; Green, Jacobsen, da Costa, Upson, Gabbidon, Dyer, Parker, Noble, Boa Morte, Obinna, Piquionne - shame on us if we lose this.

Feel free to discuss away in the comments section. If my baby girl allows me, I'll be updating this blog article as the game progresses.

To dare is to do do do...

1st Half

04:47 mins. Free kick outside the box after first proper attack. Ooh set-piece. Let's see how we manage to fudge this one up.

06:36 Close. Off the wall. Corner. Wasted. vdV busy busy busy at the mo.

07:18 Dyer fires wide. From the corner, another effort from West Ham. Biting of the nails.

09:28 Textbook West Ham so far. High tempo, pressure, be it resulting with deflections for corners. Need to try and put the olde studs on ball and take the pace out of it.

10:55 CC saving a shot, not masterful stopping. All West Ham. Sigh.

12:24 Bale forward. Stopped. WH counter. Boa Morta turning past Hutton. Comes to nothing, but still, this is getting a tad silly now.

14:27 Jenas with a shot. Green saves. First effort. Still have yet to have a patch of possession on this game yet.

15:23 Dyer on fire. Cheeky bid?

16:10 That midfield five just can't get hold of it at the moment. I guess with no defensive/holding midfielder in there, it's proving nigh impossible at the moment to do much other than the odd cameo run forward. Hammers fans with the Oles. Statue being built as I type outside the ground.

20 minute mark - Not a lot to say other than West Ham have been dominant, without exactly carving us up, but showing far more positivity in attack, earning corners and asking questions. We've don't little in response, be it a free-kick from vdV and the Jenas shot (as I type another vdV shot, saved well by Green). Huddlestone quiet as a mouse. All a bit dis-jointed.

22:00 Another leftie from vdV. Wide.

27:11 Starting to hold the ball a bit better. Still, our players looked bored.

29:00 1-0 West Ham. Yay.

31:15 So, have we gone and lost that away day magic from last season? We look poor, disinterested, incapable of taking the game by the scruff.

33:23 Great defending for the goal by the way. Forgot to mention that.

34:50 Parker into the box, good tackle from Charlie. This is pretty shit, no?

35:50 Just like watching Barca at the moment.

38:00 Free-kick, cross in, comes to nothing but the ball gets back onto the wing, crossed back in, Moddle with  the shot, SuperMan Green to the rescue, save onto the woodwork.

42:19 vdV cross-cum-shot, Crouch not quite getting on it. Not exactly what I was hoping for all this.

44:58 Coming up to HT. Crouch header over. Should have mentioned, Dyer went off earlier. Cheeky bid off.

Half-Time - 9 shots to our 7. It's been piss poor. Making them look decent, which is a massive achievement in itself, for us to be so out of this game in terms of application and desire. WH deservedly in front. As for us, it's not like we haven't had a go, but shooting and watching Green save is not good enough. We are meant to be stamping some of that quality onto the pitch, but it seems we have no strength centrally to take control. Time for a sub me thinks. Hopefully, vdV is okay. Looked to have picked up a knock.

So, shit first half. Honestly, only Spurs can make West Ham look good. Still, they deserve to be ahead. Can see us losing this 2-0 if we don't change our attitude. Having better quality players is not good enough if all they're going to do is swan around.

2nd Half

Okay, so here go. Can we have our Tottenham back please?

48:00 Like I said in the original post, Bale at left-back...wasted. We need him in midfield. Let's not forget, this is a struggling Hammer's side. Have a sodding go at them. They're confident at the moment, but one goal back and they are likely to collapse.

51:15 Hudd shot. Close. Another decent effort. But still, all from distance.

53:23 More in the game now. Just nothing decisive.

54:46 Oh dear. Hudd around Green, tries a shot, complete mess. Had he crossed it for Crouch...had he...

60:00 Okay, what did I miss? Had to leave the stream for several minutes. Daughter is teething, so had to use some of that powder on her gums that looks like cocaine. Talking of which, I could do with a couple of lines round about now. 30 minutes left. It's not looking good on the pitch at Upton Park. I'll be screaming like my baby girl by the full 90 at this rate.

64:55 Another CC save. Living dangerously. WBA 2-0 up at Arsenal. No doubt the scum will score three goals in the final ten.

65:34 Lennon off. Keane on. Game number 300 for our Robbie.

67:17 Did I say shame on us if we lose this? I'm standing by that statement.

69:10 "Why are we making this look sooo difficult?! Its sodding west ham! FFS!" - Bimspur.

71:00 I'm fast losing interest now. It's all about the players right, not formation? Well Harry, it's much ado about nothing out there.

73:43 Cracking save from CC from Noble. Cracking. Cracks in our team mind.

77:10 Run into the box from JJ. Shot wasn't a cross wasn't a shot wasn't a cross.

77:36 vdV off. Good shift. Gio on. Ho hum.

78:19 Mighty scramble in our box. Which has seen more action than that call-girl skank off the X-Factor.

79:37 Crouch off. Pav on. The nightmare is complete.

81:13 If it stays 1-0 then its proof that West Ham United are level-pegged with us in stature and thus our rivals.

82:56 Champions League, it's all we've got, Champions League, it's all we've got...

84:44 Worst. Free-kick. Ever.

85:59 Keane effort. Keane of old might have had that.

88:04 Well done Spammers. Find those keys the trophy cabinet.

88:41 Yep. Given up I have.

Full-Time Shame on us. WH fully deserving of the three points, as shit as they are, they at least wanted it today. We did our usual apologetic attempts of botheredness. Not good enough Harry. Not good enough Spurs. Momentum. When are we going to have some?

Conclusion? Not much of one. Half-arsed performance. No effort, not urgency, no desire. West Ham tired, but fuck me, they're not exactly a team built up of quality and depth are they? And yet they won. We failed to score. I'd rather be trashed out of sight than to lose because we're as limp as a 99 year old cock.

Sorry Spurs. So sorry.

PS. Three points off 4th. It's not over yet !!!!1111 COYFS !!!!!!!!111

We looked good against City and Lost Boys Steve.
We are terrible at coming back whenever a team scores at us.
I knew it was all over when Hammers scored.
We are actually terrible at the act of scoring goals.
Laugh all you want at the scum but they did manage to score today.

How is it possible to play with so little desire? It's a derby for fuck's sake.. Embarassing to think we're a champions league side..Second to every ball, no pressing, not a single player seemed to be up for it today.

Don't understand why Bale didn't attack at all today. I know he was playing left back bt that shouldn't stop him from going on some runs.. Crouch was shit, Huddlestone slow and didn't show any leadership that should come with the armband. Lennon only had one run, did fuck all for the rest of the game..Pav and Keane don't look like scoring all season.. Starting to worry as to where the goals are gonna come from without Defoe.. (Why didn't we sign a striker ffs?)

Only a few positives. Hutton looked good I thought, both offensively and defensively.. Would have conceded a couple more if it wasn't for him.. VdV looked really good in the first half, he's gna be crucial in the next couple of months if we want to score some goals. Him and Modric had some nice touches and interchanges.. The worry is that noone seemed to be able to step it up when they really needed to.

Hopefully a big win in midweek should get the spirits up in the club and kickstart our season.. Embarassing that it's come to this though..

We were crap, all of us. Shitter than shit. We just flopped around like fishes out of water watching the cats pick us off one by one. Worse for watching Cunt Ham turn up for their first and only day of the season, against us of course. We should have played our 2nd eleven, they would have had more fire in their bellies after the hiding Arseholes gave them. How can a team of professional footballers collectively look like a collection of cabbages with the intelligence, backbone, and skill of a bowl of custard? Harry out!

Champions League? I'm having a fucking laugh!

Hope we get lucky for the rest of the season, because that's what it's going to take: luck. We've got fuck all else to show for it. Kneejerk? You bet!

I'm getting sick of these days look at the players we have underachiving again expect harry to wheel out the " one if them days" line again well its just not good enough injuries or no injuries we have one of the best squads in the prem so results like this won't do! That's my weekend f$&ked u

Piss poor performance
Another HR's gave-away points with weird selection, or we are just rubbish
No one from the left, no one from the right. Our biggest offensive treat plays the back position.
What is going on in the locker room? it's got to be some row there because too many players are not interested and seem non-responsive like they are boycotting the manager. Has HR lost his mojo?
More passes are played back than forward. No one is willing to take responsibility.
Embarrassed yet at another London derby vs crap team not capable to win against no one but us.
The liner “it’s one of those days” is becoming repeated so frightening often that is losing its meaning.
Is it really that HR values CL more than EPL? If it is, it’s fucking stupid.
Famous line “two points from eight games” is on its way to soon get its numbers changed, but will remain being equally embarrassing.
Crises is becoming real this year, because whatever quality we had last year we somehow lost.

Hearing you Steve, Heres hoping for a hell of a CL run coz its looking like a struggle for a top six finish this season, again!

Sep 25, 2010 at 6:12 PM | Unregistered CommenterShoot The Gunner

Redknapp is clearly out of his depth now we are in the Champions League; he has sacrificed two games against rivals now for next weeks Champions League game. What a prick, a lot of spurs fans need to climb out of his arse and remember how lucky we are that we achieved 4th in spite of him last season. All our best players were bought before he arrived and injury and suspensions forced his hand in making any needed changes last season.

It depresses me this cockney twat is still in charge

PUNCHINGABOVEYOURWEIGHT:

"Looking how the season is shaping up"? Spurs still near the top, in the CL (something your club can only dream about) and you win a game! Congratulations to the pikey scum. Lets give 'em a round of applause for their cup final.

Why they hate us I don't know; its Millwall that are their level.

Enjoy your day in the sun and please make sure you head back to your caravans...

West sHam fan laughing at us? Now I've seen everything....Hope he's still laughing when they eventually get relegated, further from the champion's league, sodding cunt.

Sep 25, 2010 at 7:01 PM | Unregistered CommenterBimspur

Eat that! Scott Parker, like I said on here two months ago is a proper midfielder and would walk into your team. Him and noble are proper midfielders, your cms are posers who are poor at the basics and the proof was in the pudding today. Shame you couldn't sign parker hey? Your midfields invisible for 40 minutes a game, EVERY game you've played this year, I'm sure he would have helped when you play next time. Well you can't have him, he's ours. HAHAHAHAHA!

Sep 25, 2010 at 7:09 PM | Unregistered CommenterDave

Spot on mate.
Why we put up with rubbish like Modric and VDV instead of World superstars like Parker and Noble is beyond me.

Sep 25, 2010 at 7:24 PM | Unregistered CommenterDAVID

Mate I'm not stupid, modric and vdv are top players, and bale for that matter, who's disputing that? But your centre mids (huddlestone jenas and palacios seeing as I have to spell it out) are worse than Parker. I got laughed at for saying that. Hopefully now you've learnt something?

Sep 25, 2010 at 7:33 PM | Unregistered CommenterDave

Thanks for spelling that out, but Modric is a CM for both us and Croatia.
Played LM today because BAE was injured so Bale had to switch to LB.
Always thought Parker was decent but no better than what we have, too injury prone, too expensive and not going to improve. If he is so much better than what we have, where was he in the previous 8 meetings between us, none of which you managed to win.
HR wanted him but most of the supporters did not.
If you read the previous posts, you will find quite a few of us have learnt that our team are seemingly only interested in the CL and we are now getting crap league performances as a result.

Sep 25, 2010 at 8:00 PM | Unregistered CommenterDAVID

Where and when we completely lost the shape of the game? And why? What is doing our coaching staff other than suck each other’s dick glorifying their CL achievement? Why we play like bunch of knuckleheads who just saw each other for the first time? We play like crap last three games in row and nobody at Spurs seems to care. Why HR in his interviews game after game sounds afraid to lay blame to anyone in particular? Is it because he KNOWS that he fucked it up by playing players out of their positions? I don’t fucking care if someone calls this knee jerking or dick jerking, but this team has no tooth nor teeth. No one covers anyone, no meaningful chasing opposite players to win the ball, no fucking tackles, no urgency whatsoever – only lethargy and hiding and waiting for the final whistle. Why it is so strange and tough to understand the idea that passing the fucking ball to better positioned player is better than to waste hard to come by chance? Is that “Defoe Greed Disease” so infectious and wide spread in current Spur’s squad that it is incurable? I’ve just witnessed a total Spurs breakdown, and I’m clueless at what to suggest to fix it. Actually, I’m not convinced it could be fixed without a big shakeup.

BEETLEBLUES... Cheer up mate we have not quite reached the Ramos performance days ...yet!

Sep 25, 2010 at 8:12 PM | Unregistered CommenterDAVID

Yes, Parker is good but we couldn't get him so just let it go Dave - and go to your OWN BLOG! lol
Victor Obinna is quite a player though, bullish and skillful - fantastic traits to have.

Modric and VDV were not very good today, as far as I am concerned. Huddlestone was also bad, which (you haters must admit) is a rarity.
Anyway, everybody don't go crazy now, but I truly believe that HARRY LET THIS ONE GO ON PURPOSE TO HELP OLD BOY AVRAM OUT!
Just look at the team he put out there, we all know on this blog that
1)Hutton shouldnt be starting, he's a poor defender right now despite his good attacking runs.
2)Lennon shd never have started this game - poor form (He shd have come in as a sub and sparked us like in the last game
3)Playing Bale at LB?? It was getting us nowhere and at halftime Harrry could have just pushed him forward to LW/LM. The fact that he didnt was the proof for me.

Harry did this on purpose because Avram would definitely have lost his job if WH had lost this derby. It happens.

Everstill, COYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sep 25, 2010 at 8:21 PM | Unregistered CommenterNochman

Just to say: Todays performance was the worst Spurs performance under Harry yet. I was distinctly reminded of watching England at the World Cup.
Every player seemed to need 2 extra seconds to make slow, telegraphed passes that were often easily intercepted. And I love Crouch but he was blocking his own teammates' shots just like Rooney did in SA. Haha! (Did you see him block the Huddlestone volley? great defending Crouchie!)

It's just one day though, we'll play better soon.

Sep 25, 2010 at 8:27 PM | Unregistered CommenterNochman

"BEETLEBLUES... Cheer up mate we have not quite reached the Ramos performance days ...yet!"
Hard to get cheerful today, DAVE. But, tomorrow is another day....:)

"HARRY LET THIS ONE GO ON PURPOSE TO HELP OLD BOY AVRAM OUT!"
Truth to be told, Nochman, when I saw HR's post-game interview I was thinking about the same possibility.

Has Tottenham become a piñata for mediocre EPL teams, so they could have some fun after being stomped by real teams? So far it looks that way. :(

Sep 25, 2010 at 9:55 PM | Unregistered Commenterbeetleblues

Beetle.

I said it before and got slated for it but crouch is fucking useless up front on his own or with a partner.

what we need to do is start pav. Fuck keane. All he is good for is going out and getting hammered in the mean fiddler in ny. He's a fucking disgrace and is killin the dressing room.

West ham.

Fucking grrrrrrrrr.
