Glory comes in three colours...and a red dot

Never Red Fail.

New sponsor - Autonomy - for Prem games only. Apparently ENIC/Levy had shares in Autonomy Corporation PLC once upon a time (not sure if they still have minority shareholdings or not). Levy uses the word previously, so no bother either way - it's a good thing he's very familiar with them.

Anyone thinking the above mock up would be better with just the text or the logo (one or the other basically and not a mash-up of both)? Also - can we please get rid of the red dot please?

Anyways, who are they exactly? A global leader in infrastructure software. Not exactly sexy is it? But considering what they do, our shrewd chairman hasn't just bagged their cash but also their expertise (Autonomy will work with Tottenham Hotspur across a wide range of activities including significant consultancy support for enhanced services to fans and for the Club's new Stadium and Training Centre developments - from official Spurs news article). That's some nifty work.

No doubt Levy is also working hard at other commercial rights (i.e. stadium name), but then planning permission hasn't been officially granted and it's some time off - so the present is all about gaining money from a second shirt sponsor - for the domestic cups and (hopefully) CL group stages.

The thinking is if we qualify for the proper part of the Champions League, we'll bag a lucrative 12 month contract to cover it and the domestic cup competitions. Long term is always going to be dependent on where we finish in the league this season, so it's a risk for someone to offer us money and sign a long(er) contract for that reason. However, that's not to say we won't get a similar deal to our Prem one, which includes the option to extend it after 2 seasons. Guess we'll have to wait after the two qualifers.

Talking about money, it's around £20M or so from Autonomy (differing reports, some say £9M per season). Not bad, bit more than the Mansion deal. Nice work.

Watch this space is all we can do for the other remaining shirt sponsor.

In other news, according to the fabled ITK's (I read it on a forum) Harry has signed a new two-year extension. We await the oracle of the official site to confirm.

Surespur - you are right about Gooners not moaning about their shirts. (Not that I care) But Nike have done some outrageous things to their shirts - virtually removing their white sleeves. If this sort of "removal of identity" happened to us, we would definitely moan about it. Nike make good shirts apart from the Gooners shirts. A red dot is fine, it is huge yellow panels and huge bits of red writing or logos which spoil our shirt.

Gudjohnson is steady, and admittedly does slow the game when were leading with 15mins to play, but I just feel he isn't really necessary and will it make Harry think twice about signing someone else who perhaps may make the difference? I don't know, I just think following the positive sponsorship deal maybe we need to aim higher

- - - - - - - -

Gudjohnson is exactlyt he sort of guy we need as a 4th striker. He is experienced and is different from the the others, while not expecting to play every week.....a natural replacement for Keane whose assets (experience, leadership, plays in the hole) have not really made much of a difference sinced retunring from LFC. Plus PSB wants and needs to play every week.

If you ask me, keeping Keane is more likely to deter Harry from buying a top striker. If a new qulaity striker were to come, as Frolan for example, and Keane go then we would have Defoe, Crouch, Pav & Forlan. Thats 4 big names and that would be too much to manage and keep them all happy.

Solution - Sell Pav and buy a top quality replacement, some one who can play up fromt alone. Off load Keane and replace with Gudjohnson..

Would anyone here take Berbatov back?

Jul 9, 2010 at 9:52 AM | Unregistered CommenterDevonshirespur

No offence> total arsehole bang out of order no need for that, we all Spurs doesn't matter where u from or what u look like.

Berbatov? if it was the same player we signed when he first came to the club then maybe. Alas, i think them days are long gone we still got the best years out of him in the league we should probably not go there and let sleeping dogs lie.

Eidur I think is the man we should be looking to. He is such an intelligent footballer, Champions league games are sort of like chess, we need players with brains who can probe and find weakness in our opposition, then when the time is right find that killer pass or finish it off themselves. He can do both he is quality. I dont think our squad needs much at all is great to finally be going into a season with a settled and happy bunch. Cant wait for the new season.

Devonshirespur - Gudjohnsen - 100% agree. People must surely see the benefit of having someone who is here already, and used to Premiership. Yes we could TRY and find someone similar or better and younger, but he may not work. Gud does his job, and is happy to do his job from the bench. Berba - no thanks, and won't happen anyway - not sure why people keep bringing his name up. Pav, I'd rather keep him, if he wants to stay. He is our most experienced champions league player (yes he is a strange guy).

Spoooooks you cant let our brave fans say the p word is banned or Brits or Yanks is not politically correct . The shirt is magic just like Your site and Mr Levey must be proud of you using is name to promote our great Squad. I say squad because we have all our players back and there is not enough lockers to go round Levey is working on a sponsor a locker scheme you get to meat your player and keep is locker clean and tidy for him all for 50 pounds a week . We should put the A on the back of the short in the middle to remind our Neighbor what they are . The A is attached to the name Autonomy on another site lets hope you are right Spoooks scary one

for the sponsor, first thing i thought was thank god its a reasonable colour, then you lot manage to complain about one little spot, sheesh. but to get more than we did from our last sponsor for only half our matches... yeah cant complain :)

for gud, I'll welcome him back, I have always suspected that there were a few people, like Pav, that thought they were better than us and didnt have to pull their weight, then someone like gud comes, pulls weight and puts a days work in training in doesnt expect to start every match and says 'i remember playing in the champions league and winning stuff, you remeber that roman? no? put a shift in then bitch' and lo, we have a working again pav

Like the shirt, red dot no problem by me, Danny boy is a legend. But has the world gone abosolutely loopy our own beloved Howard to do the WC final itself, i'll not be that biased to not recognise that he did have a good tournament but heaven help us next season, or maybe now that his stock is so high Man U will sell him to Real Madrid and he go could fuck up La Liga.

'he CAN NOW go fuck up La Liga'

Its either Eidur or Robbie chaps - so I throw ALL my money into Eidurs corner any day of the week. Keane can take his little jig and piss of up North somewhere.

Great shirt - its BEAUTIFUL.............just like Mr Dawson.

Hopefully they won't have too much to do with the new stadium. "The Autonomy Stadium" doesn't sound like the most exciting of prospects.

Spooky, somethings not right as I have tried a Gmail, Hotmail and AOL and not one gets a reply. Just says we will send you your password. I'd suggest that the owner is capping the number. Anyway thanks for reading.

Keep up the great blog btw, goes well with my morning coffee.

Superthudd - email me (via my submission form) your details, username(s) signed up, email address etc. Apparently there was/is still a problem. Got an Admin who will look into it.

i've had exactly the same problem with gloryglory spooky. i'll email you privately about it and see if you can put a word in. As for the shirt. I haven't bought one since that sexy blue and white, skintight, kappa number a few years ago. I'm all over this one.

Yellow bits on the kit were a key element on the road to the CL!!

I for one thought the blue/white/yellow kit was flash and will be sad to see it go.

Anyone having problems with GG registration, try again - the admins have removed the need for a confirmation email, so you should get in - if you can't, email me the details.

So what was the kit we were wearing at Bournemouth? Looks great without a sponsor.

Jul 10, 2010 at 8:31 PM | Unregistered CommenterLemonadeMoney

There appears to be a sponsor on it. Very light, in white.

Have sent to a gg admin.

Jul 10, 2010 at 11:27 PM | Registered Commenterspooky

Now if Levy can get 10mil a year AND the sponsor written white on white he really has surpassed himself. I'm sure I read some financial experts stating that Levy wouldn't be able to get near 10mil a year, that our last deal was a fluke, and with the split sponsor looks like he'll get more!

Jul 11, 2010 at 10:32 AM | Unregistered CommenterLemonadeMoney

Levy's now turning his attention to securing the stadium naming rights written in invisible ink.

Jul 11, 2010 at 10:34 AM | Unregistered CommenterLemonadeMoney

What is the Kit being worn in the game the other day??

Jul 11, 2010 at 1:01 PM | Unregistered CommenterMatty Boy

Noticed their logo on the Mercedes F1 cars. They obviously have good taste!!
