2-1, innit...

In my match preview I stated the following about the north London derby:

It should be nothing more or less than the most important 90 minutes of any season. Blood, thunder, drive and spirit. And tenfold passion. How else can you possibly match the noise in the ground? If that can't elevate you then nothing can. And yes, bite me, I'm a football romantic, but to me these games should be defined by guile and tenacity of the players out on the pitch. And not because XXX is out injured watching from the sidelines.

To dare is to f*cking do, so just f*cking get on with it and do it.

The Gods, they finally smile down upon us. Where do I even start?

Immense night, immense result. We dug deep, deeper than we've ever dug before. I'm talking centre to the earth deep.

Sorry, this blog article is not going to have much of a structure as I'm just throwing various bits at it as and when I remember to do so. It's the emotion. I'm choking up over here. That and the fact that today will no doubt play out like a really really good (lol) M. Night Shyamalan movie where all Arsenal fans have suddenly disappeared off the face of the earth. No shocking twist at the end of this one. Bless 'em. The gutless geebags.

Talking of the geebags, I don't like to gloat. Honestly. It's something they do, and they do it without class or humour. But honestly, open forum lads. Your season, ended. At the Lane. What next then? I suggest you start taking the Carling Cup seriously. Honestly, it's a fun day out. With the pyrotechnics and flags and stuff. Honestly, 5 years without a club DVD? That can't be good. If this is Spurs punching above their weight, then don't mind me whilst I dance like Robbie Keane.

Was that a gloat? I guess it was. Eleven years ya know. I'm a bit rusty.

Gomes was magical. Dawson awesome. Bale and BAE storming down the flank. Sure, there were moments when you might have sighed at another misplaced pass or the lack of ball retention allowing them more time to neatly pass the leather around. But for all of Arsenal's pretty possession, they hardly did much to genuinely worry us in the final third. Well, until the final 15 minutes or so when I was too busy chewing on my hand to dare look up at the action. Although when I did, I caught glimpses of a flying octopus sprouting wings as it flew through the air at lightning speed to guide the ball away from the goal. This was no CGI effect. And I would gladly allow said octopus to sleep with my wife. If I was married. But he can have a go at my bird if he so wishes. As long as I can watch.

Even Kaboul gave effort beyond his means, even if he's lacking in so many other ways. And I'm not referring to the lack of depth in his eyebrows. But there is no criticism to be found for any of our players, not in these euphoric post-match hours.

Everyone gave it some. For the colours. There was heart and there was desire. Not so much composure at times, but plenty of it when it mattered most. And the second goal, just inside the start of the second half was like a point blank shot in the back of the head. Bale, the sneak, sneaking and slotting it for 2-0. Definitive moment that. And richly richly deserved that.

How many times have we buckled in the past against these jammy fuckers? Too many to mention. We might have struggled to beat them over the years, but some of the score-draws tell a different story. And in this case, it was simply not going to happen. Tired legs? I saw no tired legs.

Like some form of mystical sponge we soaked up the pressure and at times looked more likely to score on the fast break, in comparison to their 20 pass move that ended up with a goal-kick.

Shout out to Eidur Gudjohnsen. When he came on he was superb in possession. Should have made it three. But I forgive you Eidur. I forgive you.

King, Ledley. A man who doesn't train. Probably nowt wrong with his knee either. He's probably not even human. I'd hazard a guess and say 'bionic' in creation. The reason he only plays one game every three months is because we're busy recharging him in-between. Have to do it slowly otherwise we'll bring down the entire national grid.

Back onto Daws. Strength of character. Must have been devastating, Sunday. And yet what a performance. Commanding stuff.

Have I mentioned Bale? I have? Can I mention him again? What. A. Player. Confidence. If you could bottle the stuff it would sell for millions. In the meantime, if you get close enough, you'll smell it in his lush black hair.

Gomes and those saves. Billy the Fishesque.

Oh Danny boy, Danny boy...what a strike. Majestic. Beautiful. BELTER. A left-foot gem of a thumping yet graceful volley. Worthy of it's own DVD. Talking of which, I've checked the official website and I see no new release. Slackers.

LOL at people suggesting it was a goal-keeping error. Okay, so Alumnia is shite and he sort of dived under the ball when attempting to save it, but crickey, did anyone expect a player to strike the ball ON the volley from 30 yards out after the keeper punched it out? Do one playa-haters.

And let's not forget Harry. O knee-jerkers, knee-jerkers! Wherefore art thou knee-jerkers? Starts Pav and Defoe. Plays Danny Rose (okay, so this might have been textbook luck that no doubt Harry will play on, but it still took guts). Organised and focused, we defended like warriors. Granted, we watched a lot of the ball at their feet, but the pressing worked. Second half, two subs made. Tactical master-stroke. Not just the subs but the way we countered Arsenal. We didn't just shut shop on them. Hit them on the counter. Soak the pressure and hit 'em. I'd like to refer you back to the second goal. Even the first goal came about after sustained pressure from them.

Have we played better football, dominated possession - against them - and come away with a point or nothing? Many times. Which is why this is so so sweet.

Also, Mark Cluttenberg. We slate refs when they botch things up and always make sure we mention it. So, it's only fair I point out that I hardly noticed him in the NLD. He had mad flows. Considering the intensity of the game, credit. Just a little. Don't want him overdosing. And if we want to be critical, he should have waved his yellow card at some of the Arsenal players for the odd theatrical dive and elbow. Okay, so he's shit, but he's no Howard Webb.

Judas? He actually played well. Hope he enjoys the memory.

Somewhere in the midst of all this, the scum got a goal back. THEO (did he just guarantee his England place with that assist? Did he? Did he?) crossing in for...it doesn't really matter does it? They got dicked.

I'm off to Swansea Thursday morning. Work thing. And drink-up. So will be back on-line Friday evening, unless I sneak in a cheeky blog post at some point tomorrow. Will also announce the winner of the 'Spurs Cult Heros' book. More to follow for sure.

Enjoy your day.

COYS.

spuddies better hang on to this win bcoz u r not going to get another chance like this for a long long time, neither u r going to get into top 4 this season or any other season simple reason is that ur club is not just build for it , ask urself how many times in ur history u have been top 4 and what was last time u were in it. and as for arsenal i think arsene has realized his mistakes of not buying readymade players and if he goes in transfer market and tries to compensate for all his mistakes during all these yrs we r goin to have hell of a team with add. of new players and injured players returning and over it man u dont have money now and they r ordinary without rooney , chelsea r ageing and they too look in shambles without drogba and he is already 33 or something like that , so i can predict a great future for only club in london with prestige and history mighty arsenal and we would b not underachieving nxt season thats for sure.

"i think arsene has realized his mistakes of not buying readymade players" - lol

5 years after everyone else realises!

Luck is a funny thing though, you earn it. It's something that you deserve. You lot had massive amounts of possession around our box and couldn't do anything with it! Redknapp knew Bendtner is shite and would be in King's and Dawson's back pocket all game so we could sit back and defend against an apparent CL side...

No wonder you lot got smashed by Barca, time and time again you've proved to have no cutting edge. Still, you lost 2-1, season over, no cups to celebrate and nothing to look forward to!

LOL does not cover it!

Nice to see the AKB's are out in force with their 'we were missing x' cause the gooner I watched the game with conceded that arshaviun has been hit and miss, Gallas loss is no different to us losing woody, RVP coming back is the same as us playing a non-match fit defoe, and us losing lennon had roughly the same impact as them losing fabregas (one pace, one guile net result the same).

I guess they had those blinkers on when the 'shots' in the first half we're closer to the cornerflag by bender.

I'd like to dedicate the following to last night's performance:

You can stick sol campbell up your arse,
You can stick sol campbell up your arse,
You can stick sol campbell,
stick sol campbell,
stick sol campbell up your arse,
Singing we've got ledley at the back (sometimes)
Singing we've got ledley at the back (sometimes)
Singing we've got ledley, we've got ledley, we've got ledley at the back (somtimes)

and on that note I bid you all a good day.

i can understand all these comments full of gloating by spuddies , most of them wouldnt had such a chance to do so in their misreable lives until now and they very well know they will not get such a chance again in their lifetime so go on lads and take full use of this opportunity to take out frustrations and complexes u all have grown by keeping jealousy towards arsenal and constant bullying by gooners both on and off the pitch for decades but sorry lads u r not getting anything more , no top 4 this season and with all teams getting much better around you expect yet other medicore next season ,which is just a proper fitting for medicore club like spurs

FUCKING SHAME ,WHY DO SPURS CAN ONLY BEAT ARSENAL WHEN THEIR FIRST 11 OR MOST OF IT IS NOT PLAYING , AND AS FOR SPURS MISSING THEIR FIRST 11 PLAYERS IT WOULD NOT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE , AS THEY ALL ARE FUCKING MEDICORE PLAYERS OR ELSE WHY WILL THEY STAY AT ONE TINY FUCKING MEDICORE CLUB WITH TINY MEDICORE HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!

Quick message to all the semi-literate caps-lock goon mongs on here:

As of 8pm yesterday, Arsenal were still in the title race (albeit as outsiders).

As of 10pm yesterday they ain't.

I absolutely fucking love it.

We revel in your misery goons. Lap it up.

Apr 15, 2010 at 4:43 PM | Unregistered Commenterfrontwheel

Total facts:

Main players missing from game last night:

Goons: Fabregash, Gallas, Song, Arshavin

Spurs: Lennon, Kranjcar, Woodgate, Palacious

I could add a few periforal players but that would just be nit picking. Basically both were missing a few key players, so all this 'weakened team' bollocks is exactly that. You just don't have the squad to deal with a whole season. Damn, it's like shooting fish in a barrel this morning isn't it. Gotta love the denials of an AKB haven't you.

Fact is we won, we were better, now try and find the caps lock key or we'll set Davspur on you.

hey you frontwheel , mate you were neither in title race 8 pm 30 yrs ago neither you are in title race at 10 pm today and yes you will be neither in title race 8 pm 15th april 2040 , this says a lot about size of your club. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha h a!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and me too absolutely fucking loving it.!!

I don't think you are loving it, actually Goon Michael Jackson.

I think you're upset and I think you're full of rage and a misplaced sense of injustice that you didn't get your way.

I think your bottom lip is poking out, quivering like a shop awning in a gale.

Apr 15, 2010 at 5:07 PM | Unregistered Commenterfrontwheel

Regarding the Arse’s possession advantage, let me quote the immortal Ray Hudson:

“Without penetration, it’s just masturbation, and right now, we’re playing with ourselves.”

You Arsenal idiots cling to that possession number like it means something. It's just like after the Chavs beat you: "But we we had most of the ball and tapped it around" (lip a-quiver). I recall Wenger saying something along the lines of how the goal in football is to pass it around.

NEWS FLASH: THE GOAL IS TO PUT THE BALL IN THE BLESSED NET!

This season you have lost each time you faced those teams above you (MU and Chavs) you've lost to Shitty (in the place directly below) and lost to Spurs, who completely outfought and outworked you when your only outside chance at a title needed a victory. This isn't even talking about your cup defeats and CL humiliations. You have bottled each meaningful game you played.

But you did tap it around some. Congrats. I hope the memory keeps you warm

Apr 15, 2010 at 5:27 PM | Unregistered CommenterSeattleSpursGuy

I love all these Woolwich fools who are saying we are gloating and have to listen to all their excuses. Yeah how dare we, Spurs fans, come on to a Spurs blog and express our happiness at Spurs beating our local rivals. We are scum.

Aparently the NLD doesn't mean anything to them anymore anyway so my gooner mates tell me, considering all the trophies they keep winning and the heights of success for so many years, but why is it the Manchester Derby and Liverpool derby still means as much to either side of supporters? Can you guys not see it is because of this floor and influx of players who largely have no idea of the sentiment of the game, you can not sin a sodding thing.

You've got a really big game against Wigan at the weekend so why don't you concentrate on brushing up your excuses on your own blogs rather than whinging on here.

Apr 15, 2010 at 5:39 PM | Unregistered CommenterLouis

typical spuddies ,talking much without any substance , what oaks you have ripped apart this season exactly, you will not finish in top 4 and very high chances neither in near future. i m sure harry will be on his way at the end of campaign , players will leave as many of them have themselves stated before and finally all that mad cash splashing spurs have done during last decade will finall catch upon you and you will further sink down , so your only hope is to enjoy as long as arsenal bad luck continue and we fall but let me assure soon our luck will change and we will be where we belong top of the pile unlike you just hoping arsenal to fall because spurs themselves can never rise.

Apr 15, 2010 at 5:43 PM | Unregistered CommenterGOONER jackson

What's with all these sad gooners invading a Spurs forum?

Whatever pathetic excuses you may trot out, if you believe we were the weaker team, what does that say about

a) your lack of strength in depth (we started with Danny Rose and Kaboul !)
b) your hunger and motivation (given this was a must-win for both sides)
c) your mental strength (our lot had only two days plus to recover from a demoralising and energy sapping FA semi, whereas your lot had 7-8 days to regain your composure after your disappointing exit from the CL)

As for us being lucky? (think of all the last minute goals your lot scored this season, and think of all the disallowed goals, unjustified penalties, wrong yellow cards that we've suffered not just this season but seasons past). And dont get me started on Pedro Mendes' goal at OT.

I am sick of Gooners gloating. I will categorically state this:

There have been too many instances where referees have given the benefit of the doubt to the "Sky4". And teams who usually suffer dubious decisions are the "best of the rest" (Everton, Aston Villa, Spurs)

You only need to look no further than the recent disgraceful performances of H. Webb for a good example. You will also realise that L'Arse, Man U, Liverpool and especially Chelsea get away literally with murder on the field.

It's almost like a conspiracy to enable the so-called "elite" to maintain their position and keep the rest in their place. How can the rest compete on a level playing field? Is it so surprising that the same teams dominate the EPL every year?

In short, recognise this victory of Spurs for what it is, a performance of a team who wanted it more than your lot. And stop whining like small children. It's so typical of you lot. When you lose, there are 10 million and one reasons, but never because the other team played better.

just had a peek 'over the garden wall' metaphorically speaking at a goon blog one of my relatives reckoned has a little more decorum (than the representaives here at least) and they're all going mental.

It's them that are pointing out that they can't really complain about injuries after we gave a 19 year old a league debut because our first choice was injured and bentley was apparently suffering a bit from a dead leg after the Semi.

Some of them are arguing that Arshavin wouldn't have made a difference because he's been hot and cold.

And that if you rely on a striker who is made of glass, your bck up hd better be able to hit the target more often than the corner flag.

Some are even suggesting a clean sweep and get a new manager in! That's just nuts, you'd never find us knee-jerking in such a manner about our own managers in recent years.

Only ARSEnal fans come up with the lamest excuses why they get beat. If they can't put the blame on playing their so called kids, then they it is because their first team players are out; If it is not because the opposition players were too rough on their fragile players, then it has to do with the referee not making calls in their favor; if they can't blame the surface the match was played on, then the weather has to take the blame for either been too wet or too shiny.

Honestly we have to start ignoring the ARSE as they are now beneath us.

Fellow Spurs supporters, I think we are being too hard on the Arse followers who are clearly feeling immense pain following their teams defeat yesterday.
I believe its the fact they lost the NLD that is making them so depressed and I think we can ease their pain at a stroke by telling them they did not actually lose the match, they just finished second.
Think of it as Spurs supporters contribution to care in the community.
Hope this helps in your hour of need, gooners.

Apr 15, 2010 at 10:03 PM | Unregistered CommenterDAVID

What the fuck is wrong with the goons that they can't even spell!? No grammar, no punctuation, I can't even read what they write to mock them. Takes all the fun out of it tbh. Or are they all Wenger's 4-year-old bitches?

Anyways, good result but we need to build on it against Chelsea. We've had some good results against them at the Lane in the last few years, but we'll be missing Palacios, Lennon, and King for this one. Hopefully at least Corluka will be back, Kaboul is terrifying! Gomes will need to give the performance of his life again and our strikers need to regain form. Modric may well be in the middle again, so one of the strikers needs to play deeper (Gud perhaps) to counter Chelsea's strong midfield. I'm nervous about our very possible tiredness too - three exhausting games in one week!

I have a question on another topic for the piece of shit gooner who keeps posting under different names;

Please explain to me why in such a short distance between each other that the emirates has eerily quiet and frankly diabolical support and WHL is a booming atmospheric football love in? The support at your ground is absolutely dismal for a side routinely towards the top of the league - you bastards sing one song that's ONE song - 'we are by far the greatest team the world has ever seen'. How fucking pathetic is that. A shit song that virtually every team in the country has sung for the last 30 years is sung by you lot as if you own it! LMFAO at you cunts. Oh of course you sometimes sing 'who's that team they call the anal'. Again all London clubs sing it. We have loads of unique and original chants that WE only sing. In comparison WHL is routinely credited for it's amazing support, last night we were yet again absolutely immense and your away section??? LOL! The point I'm making is underlined when I point your attention to a recent article on your own official site entitled 'how can we improve the atmosphere at the emirates' :-)

Oh and once you have posted your pathetic cocky excuse, honestly ask yourself the question why your support of 'O great arsenal' is so lame it even surprises the WHL faithful...

Apr 15, 2010 at 11:01 PM | Unregistered CommenterDoglegz

Anyone here TalkSport earlier - our team last night had and average age 1 year YOUNGER than arsenals!

So just to clarify, our kids beat your experienced player.

And Brook, bless.

Your wisdom probably doesn't span much further than 1995 so whatever genius you may think you have, trying to throw a trolling cluster-bomb into us isn't gonna have much impact with the educated here.

Facts are, we beat you - and you are struggling to come to terms with a Sky4 team being beaten by an outsider. I'm assuming you've petitioned Sky to have the result annulled in light of this catastrophic miscarriage of justice.

Tis better to be silent and thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt - in your case, we'll paraphrase that to typing.

Apr 15, 2010 at 11:23 PM | Unregistered CommenterYiddogray

You know what I think iv touched on something here;

Iv touched the sides so let me finish. Let me complete what I was saying by briefly mentioning firms (and only cos I'm sure the cunt said something about us getting battered by them). We have mark carnelles mob, we have Richmond spurs, we have Trevor tanners mob and a nice look to the youth these days. Again what do the anal have errrrr NOTHING. Ghost firm by name and ghost firm by nature.

See a pattern forming? The problem at the anal ain't the team, it's not the manager, it's not the chairman, it's not the stadium it's.......YOU hahahahah the problem with the anal is there own fucking crap fans. Your the fucking problem with arsenal hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

In the stands - shit
In the streets - shit

Put simply arsenal fans are a disease in their own football club :-)

Cracking result. Spooks was right. Where have all the gooners gone? And Brook, read back your own posts. You started posting here, gloating, laughing at us post match. Such a blatant lack of class. Moronic set of fans who are obsessed with their own hype.

Done like a kipper. You've all lost the right to browse back in share your thoughts on the basis of you all being chicken shits.
