Pompey gives me a semi

Will shed tears if we botch up the replay. One game away from Wembley, be it a semi-final. I bet tabloid hacks across the country are busy sacrificing virgins in the hope that we beat Fulham and set up a triffic contest with Portsmouth. Redknapp slap bang in the middle of one massive journalistic clusterfuck of a story.

Harry up against the club he left behind, the club he returned to pluck the likes of Defoe, Crouch, Niko and whatshisname, the French dude with no eyebrows. The club in administration, practically gutted to the bone. There's still plenty of meat to get your teeth stuck into, and with Fulham about to enter a titanic fixture list of games, I would personally be devastated if we somehow managed to allow them to win through the replay and see them face the south-coast club instead of us.

Yes, 4th spot is important. But ffs, this is the business end of the FA Cup. And it's been an age since we got our suits measured. Silverware. You can stick it on a trophy cabinet.

Having said that, Pompey in a cup final is drenched in ye old FA cup magic irony. So expect the footballing Gods to be wearing their colours, ringing out a cowbell in that traditional annoying manner that grates eternally. Considering their plight it almost feels like destiny. Or probably does from their fans perspective. No doubt if this (us v them) is the game that does take place, most will be rooting for the underdog.

I'd happily accept our role as party-poopers/villains in this.

COYS.

If we mess it up against fulham at home, like you said i'll shed tears! This is the best chance of getting to the final we're ever gonna have. I just hope the players take it with both hands, we deserve this final to proove how far we've come.

I would rather get fourth than the fa cup, however knowing us we will get neitheir!!

Mar 7, 2010 at 11:15 PM | Unregistered CommenterSpurm

we've already beaten fulham at home. and then we will have to beat a very poor side without their best player. i am confident yes. hopefully chelsea in the final. cos it would be a glorious victory. one to remember.

We should now go all out to get to the FA Cup final. Priority time. Gutted wouldn't even come close to the emotion felt if we fuck this up. No excuses. I'm referring to the replay and the semi. I'll worry about the final once we get there.

Being a Irish Yid living in Brum the draw we got for the semis was the one I prayed for. Alleyujah!! I want Villa in the final so we can do better than two draws in the league when we should have had six points. Plus I get to Lord it big time(fingers crossed) over all the Villians I know and there are quite a few.COYS

100% would take the FA Cup over 4th place. In years to come when you look back at history books what would you rather see another FA cup or a fourth place finish. In 10 or 15 years getting into the champions league will be a differn't process anyway. Yes the club gets money so what we are the fans we dont see it. And yes you can throw in the attract better players bull but Levy still won't break the pay structure. Give me the FA Cup any day.

Would O'Hara be allowed to play? If not i cant see us not getting to the final!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COYS

Get cold sweat thinking about messing up the replay.rather get Villa in the final, match up good against them and have some unfinished business from the two earlier games.

have to feel for ohara a little bit here. poor little soul all excited about playing at wembley but if we do get through he will be up tied. I wonder who he'll be supporting in the replay?

Mar 7, 2010 at 11:56 PM | Unregistered CommenterFox Mulder

Damn you Spooky for getting me all worked up and nervous about the replay. Is it possible for the FA to move the replay to this Wednesday as I can't contain my suspense of what the outcome against Fulham will be.

Mar 8, 2010 at 12:30 AM | Unregistered CommenterIaG

Hope by now we paid off in full our share to the Injury God whatever we owed for this year. Cause otherwise.... don’t want to even go there :)

Mar 8, 2010 at 1:09 AM | Unregistered Commenterbeetleblues

Our best chance for glory, to be sure. I hope Hudd recovers in time, and we finish off Fulham at the Lane, can't wait for the replay.

Mar 8, 2010 at 2:34 AM | Unregistered CommenterPostiga

Why, Oh Why are Spurs supporters on here being so fu***ng negative. Why should'nt we get to the final, win the FA Cup and achieve 4th place in the league. There's absolutely no reason.
Pompey fans will hate Harry's guts more than ever when he negotiates the win over them at Wembley. But that is part and parcel of the game and I believe we will get there this season.

Mar 8, 2010 at 2:40 AM | Unregistered Commentercookiebun

Have to agree with cookiebun, we shouldn't be choosing when we can get both. It's not going to be easy, but it can be done with our team. COYS

i am already saving up the money to be able to attend the final , even though this will cost me a fortune ... i want to be there

But this is Spurs so i'll have a nice extra on my savings account after we muck it up ...

It was bloody cold at Fulham on Saturday and I think I'm only just thawing out!

So, what about the problem of our midfield - did it work on Saturday? Wilson is 1 booking away from missing the replay - do we rest him? Oh dear, oh dear...I can feel a whasisname moment coming or do we play Bostock or Livermore for a while on Saturday against Blackburn.

Hmmmm - over to you Harry!

Mar 8, 2010 at 9:16 AM | Unregistered Commenterhoopspur

"I wonder who he'll be supporting in the replay?"

According to this morning's newspapers Jamie wants Fulham to win.

Mar 8, 2010 at 9:21 AM | Unregistered CommenterIan

Thats probably only because then he gets to play the semi.

Mar 8, 2010 at 9:44 AM | Unregistered CommenterSheffSpur

He's been discussing this on his Twitter page.

By the looks of it, none of our missing stars will be back in time for replay, maybe bentley (like i said, none of our stars). But i hope we have enough quality to edge pass a very good Fulham side.

If we do make the semi, then the Arsenal game will be postponed, to maybe break up our run of Arsenal (h) Chelsea (h) Man Utd (a). Maybe now it will be the Semi, and then the Chelsea, Arsenal & Utd in the space of 7 days.

Its the lack of Huddlestone that concerns me. We have now learnt to play without Lennon (although in tight games we still really miss him), but without the creativity & physique of Thud in the middle, we struggle. Modric in the middle vs the Blackburn thugs is a non starter in my view. Big Sam is probably arleady briefing his team on how to mug Modric and rule the midfield.

Devonshire - although I would be more (understatement!!) than happy to see Arse knocked out of the Champions League this week, I don't mind if they are still in it for a while yet. Quater/Semis all kick in at this time, which gives me a small glimmer of hope!

I've seen Bostock play and he's not a small boy - he wouldn't get knocked about. I still think it'll be Kaboul.

Mar 8, 2010 at 11:19 AM | Unregistered Commenterhoopspur

hoopspur - Wilson is 2 bookings away from a suspension.
Which should mean he'll time it nicely to miss 2 of the Arse, Chav or ManUsa games :-)

Mar 8, 2010 at 12:01 PM | Unregistered CommenterYiddenAgenda

I know exactly what's going to happen. We sweep by Fulham, beat Pompey and make the final. We fall short of 4th which is snaffled by Liverpool. We are in the final against Chelsea who have won the title. Therefore the only thing between Chelsea and their artificial manufactured first-ever Double is us. And we won't quite do it. Worst case scenario.

Mar 8, 2010 at 3:46 PM | Unregistered Commenter555

All those taking FA cup over 4th, FA cup won't pay for a new stadium .Set your standards a little higher or we'll be competing in mid fucking table another 12 or -5 years then will win a league cup and I guess you'll all be happy

Mar 8, 2010 at 5:37 PM | Unregistered CommenterSpursLA

I think either the cup and top 6 finish or no cup and 4th would be a tremendous achivement either way.
Both would be a dream
Neither would be disappointing but by no means the end of the world.

Mar 8, 2010 at 5:44 PM | Unregistered CommenterFox Mulder

SpursLA The new stadium does not hinge on us getting to the champions league. And if it did we would end up like Leeds. I think winning a FA Cup is very good you never know we might do both. It is not a case of setting are sights higher. Some of us would prefer a trophy in the bag and writen in to history then finishing 4th and maybe playing Champions League for one season and that is if we get through the first stage. That is not by any means 100% look at Everton a few years a go. So yes FA Cup all day long. And ofcourse wish for both.

Mar 8, 2010 at 7:32 PM | Unregistered CommenterBrazilyid

tbh, at least we're in march and still have something to play for.

I'd happily take 11 drug testers and DAVESPUR to the Fulham game. I bet he's drafting his letter to the FA now........
