Spurs. Marching on together. Whoop.

Now that's more like it. Decent cup tie, plenty of chances created. Never really in doubt was it? There was no ominous 'here we go agains' even when Leeds pegged us back. You just felt that the tempo and effort from our lads was always going to cause the home side problems. It took two games, but Premier quality won through in the end.

Bentley continued his sparkling good form. Not keen on the hobo face scruff and although he does look ill there's no doubt that his form is currently sick (see what I did there? honestly, someone should pay me to blog). As long as he continues to keep his feet on the ground and not develop another vanity daze that always seems to eat away at any hope of prolonged consistency. Start to worry the moment he starts to highlight his hair. I'm liking the fact that he's continuing to take the chance he's been presented with. Good work fella. We all know he'll lose his place when Azza is back. But it's good to have competition. Not that it's competition in the strictest sense. Lennon is untouchable.

Defoe re-discovering his goal scoring touch was also a joy. Loved how he added spin on his first (he meant it) and his touch to score the second from an unplayable (from a defensive point of view) Bentley cross was equally impressive. His third was no doubt harsh on plucky Leeds and their fans but to be fair, it was tinged with 'back in your box' qualities that were much required, if anything to end the constant pro-giant killing requirements that ITV are utterly utterly obsessed with. Thought Crouch did a decent enough job in aiding JD. Missed a sitter (of sorts). It's not exactly the most exhilarating partnership with regards to subtle layers of inventiveness, but it's productive.

Apart from an exceptional 10 minute spell from Leeds at the end of the first half (having gone 1-0 up), it was comfortable. Special mention to that reaction though. They had a right old ding dong go at us and even though the goal was debatable - it was probably deserved for the sheer effort leading up to it. Only positive from conceding was that it left no room for further complacency come the second half.

On the subject of the goal, it's debatable depending on how you wish to interpret the phase of play that led to the equaliser. Leeds players all offside, but alas not when the ball reaches Becchio. He's now onside, even though there was arguable interference seconds earlier. Confused? I flipping hope so. I'm still trying to figure out how Defoe's goal at Anfield never stood.

Which we dominated in both chances and possession where the difference in quality was more than evident by the final whistle. Leeds didn't do enough. Our lot did everything right. Chuffed that the players gave the occasion the focus and determination it needed. It's the FA Cup, it should matter. Year might not end in 1. There's still a 1 in there. Bolton away next, more of the same please.

Positives: Bale (see what confidence can do for you?) and Bentley (2 assists and a couple of moments where I'm certain I witnessed him going past a player) were impressive, Defoe clinical. ITV duly gutted. Did love how when we took the lead, the second thing out of the commentators mouth was about whether Leeds could fight back. Dry them mate.

Goodbye Leeds. We might never meet again (hopefully).

Bread and butter next with Villa at the Lane, which is just as important for altogether different reasons. More so in the eyes of many. It's another cup game. In the league. Lose this and the feeling of deflation will no doubt sting. Win it, and there's an opportunity to use it as a springboard.

Onwards.

Putting a few points to bed:

1) Leeds 'fans' are disgusting scum. I live in this city now for work purposes, I know the vitriol and anger endemic through their team, and I hope they continue to suffer the indignity of playing 3rd tier football for as long as they survive (which I hope is not long).

2) The main reason they are scum is the dangerous atmosphere they created after the match. The police kept us back for 30 minutes and what for? So the Leeds fans could set up their traps at each end of Elland Road, looking to pick off anyone with a southern accent and cause trouble. I myself am today nursing a broken nose, given to me by some fuckin whippet-racing pit digger via an unprovoked headbutt because I DARED speak to my girlfriend (who was almost in tears by the end) in my native tongue (the language as Her Majesty and The Good Lord intended it).

3) Reading the comments about the ITV commentators, I can tell you now that is NOT how the Leeds scum see it. They were full of it this morning on Radio Leeds on my drive to work, moaning that the commentator shouted "yes!" as JD scored the first. It really set me off in a bad fucking mood today, and I work at a secondary school so you can only imagine how these northern pikeys could only dampen it further with their "eh-oops" and "ow do's". At least I could hold my bruised head high. Of course, not one of the little fuckers saw the serious side of a young couple going to a match getting assaulted by some shaved gorilla for no reason whatsoever.

4) I'm convinced the whole night was a set-up. Seats were double booked so Yiddos were arguing amongst ourselves about who sat where. Police knew there would be trouble but did nothing to stop it except herd us like sheep straight towards where the Leeds scum were gathered. Even their tannoy announcer was a twat and trying to wind us up.

5) Spurs fans are a credit to football. We have a humour and good nature that is a beacon of how to correctly follow a sport. We sing and joke and banter in all weather conditions. White Hart Lane is the safest ground in the league despite being in one of the least safe boroughs in London. The guy with the sweeties was a legend last night, and some of the camaraderie amongst our fellow yids was brilliant.

6) Perhaps the biggest disgrace of all is the COMPLETE lack of reporting on the organised violence last night. Not a mention on Newsnow, Teamtalk, BBC, Sky Sports, any blog site, any radio show (local and national), and on the telly. How they can censor this I don't know. But we know the truth. LEEDS ARE MORE SCUM THAN ARSENAL - at least the Woolwich Wanderers understand the boundaries between a heated cup tie and outright thuggery.

7) I'm immensely proud to be a Yid.

Big speech, you going for miss England? Leeds fans are violent n abusive, you
all know it, so you don't like it! Don't come! Don't live in Leeds if you don't like how the people are, fuck off back to London you southern cunt, fuck your whore of a gf,

Feb 4, 2010 at 4:43 PM | Unregistered CommenterJay lufc

nickthfc - couldn't agree more, I saw it all kicking off, the police even had TV cameras, yet there is no news of it today. Disgraceful. No word of a lie - my girlfriend did her dissertation on the effects football has on its surrounding areas, and she spent a game with the police at sheffield utd. They told her that there is an agreement with the media that they purposely don't report any croud trouble unless its mass chaos, like west ham millwall was. The idea is the thugs don't get publicity for it. The fact is, these mugs should have their faces on wanted posters around leeds, so they can't go anywhere without being put away.

Sorry to hear you were in the middle of it.

Feb 4, 2010 at 4:48 PM | Unregistered Commentermazzatron

So you agree your all violent thugs and should be put down.

Feb 4, 2010 at 4:49 PM | Unregistered Commentermazzatron

Theres banter and there is abusive. The later isn't cool.

Have a good one all you spurs fans, let this tosser be know me thinks.

Feb 4, 2010 at 4:50 PM | Unregistered Commentermazzatron

Haha you say "I can banter all day" JayLufc, well let me guess, you've run out of bantering skills and now you're just echoing the embarassment of a football club you follow. Oh dear. You go to my school do you? Didn't I give you a detention today for being a muppet?

The joy amongst your fans when the tannoy announcer said the attendance was 37000 was beautiful. Is that the biggest moment of your season? "YOU'RE ONLY HERE FOR THE TOTTENHAM, HERE FOR THE TOTTENHAM".

The thing is, son, I'm not gonna play the 'big I am' on the internet like you are. I'm too intelligent, too well read, too useful to society to be dragged to your level. Your club are a shambles, your city was until the recession a blossoming hub of growth. It's stagnated, you still need our southern money at your unis, at your work places, you still need us with a proper accent to answer your phones, hold your meetings, be your bosses, put you in your place.

If you THINK you're an old-school hardnut Leeds firm thug, you will BECOME one.

On the internet, that is.

Feb 4, 2010 at 4:53 PM | Unregistered Commenternickthfc

You deserved your broken nose, your an arrogant cheeky southern cunt, n we can all sit online n say this shit, but would you say it to a group of us? You faggots ain't got a clue, I think fighting in football is stupid, totally, but you all know what were like, so why come if you know? It's your own daft fault, a muppet? Don't you say mappet you thick cant? Translation " muppet you thick cunt, learn to speak properly you southern wanker

Feb 4, 2010 at 5:03 PM | Unregistered Commenterledley's ligaments

You think fighting in football is stupid? So what's with the abuse eh, son?

Would you come into the Billy Nick and say this to a group of hardened Yids? Would you bollocks. Who gives a flying fuck where the hooligans are from? An ex-con is an ex-con, a thug is a thug, a hooligan is a brainless, pointless member of a decaying society, be he a northern hooligan, a Turkish, Italian, Polish, Russian hooligan, a West Ham fan, a Chelsea Headhunter or a member of the Spurs firm. They're all CUNTS. Big capital letters on my laptop do not a hard man make. Maybe you should think before you spew.

What are you doing on Spooky's blog anyway, acting the big man?

Was it you? Were you one of the Burberry-clad hooligans last night? Or are you a small boy with a big keyboard and your mum's 56k internet connection? Do you even know your mum?

If you're gonna be a mug, be consistent. Condemn the violence, keep your chin up, it's Walsall next for Leeds. Big game, that.

It's Hartlepool, abuse in football is sound, no I wasn't one of them, I just believe football fans are daft when you know we are violent, it's like jumpin in a shower n complaining your wet, if you don't agree stay away, I don't agree but I love Leeds united, n if a fight came to me I would fight back, but I don't agree, i think it's wrong, for the record, I see there's been a few comments left in my name on here, there my work mates, I haven't been in, I apologise for any offence n I personally apologise for any injuries because of our fans, I am against violence in football, after the two stabbings in turkey I think it's pathetic, it was a good game last night, overall you deserved it but we will be back. For the record, the prick who butted me came up behind me, tapped me on the shoulder, I turned around, the bloke headbutted me in the forehead. My nose ain't definitely broken, just a bit swollen,. The fucking idiot didn't even knock me down or give me a nosebleed. I'm 5'8" and 11 stone, I'm not Hulk bleedin Hogan. What am I gonna do? Try and fight the coward? on a seperate note, where did this info that Sir Les gave defoe a bollocking come from? Just curious. And also, I've heard his embarrasing attempts at punditry/analysis. What the fuck are you laughing at Les?!?! The man can barely fucking talk, no wonder our strikers have been in such bad form if they have his 'wisdom' to guide them. i see your all still talking, when leeds get promoted leeds will come back with a bang, the premier league needs leeds and newcastle and middlesborough and forest back, wigan puts premier league football to shame, they get 4 fans a game, rubbish support, rubbish team, hull city dont belong there, our luck is beginning to turn, and like our captain said you beating us is a blessing, for that i thankyou, you`ve given us the kick up the arse we needed to push on n smash league one, we will be back my friends, when we played u at the lane i said i feared you more than man united, you have a fast young, hungry quality side, n i think you shoulda put the tie to bed in the first leg, id of prefered that, i hope you guys go on to finish 4th coz it would be nice to see a change in that, spurs have always been up there with teams iv wanted to do well, i like spurs, i like lennon n woodgate, bentley, i basically like most of ur squad, i cant wait for us to meet again, hopefully in the premier league. Shows that all this 'Robbie Keane is so important for morale' chat was, as expected, a load of bollocks. Miraculously, team spirit seems absolutely fine without him and his hand shaking. Hard to believe I know. Better in fact. Keane is dead to me.

Feb 5, 2010 at 9:07 AM | Unregistered Commenterchrisman

belgian, I prefer not to venture too far north. Last time I flew and landed at 'leeds/bradford international airport', to say I was underwhelmed by the status that the title deserved is putting it mildly.

Upon arrival their were fat lasses chunking out at breakfast in Mac D's with half a dozen burgers, each. And chav wanabies blokes who would fit right in on a day trip to east london, dripping with burberry and lacking any class whatsoever.

Needless to say that despite meeting some decent folk whilst there (and genuinely there are always some sound people even if the most dire of places) I left with a smile on my face that the regional sterotype well and truely in tact, but dissappointed for some of those that this sterotype represented.

Feb 5, 2010 at 10:47 AM | Unregistered CommenterTricky

I have never dared to venture that high up your island actually , but after your description i can not resist the temptation to visit the North on my next holiday.

Leeds it is.

Feb 5, 2010 at 12:16 PM | Unregistered CommenterCEJ

If your going north, go sheffield, everyone is friendly here. Just stick to the M1, you don't want to be coming off at birmingham by accident. And definitely don't go any further north!

Feb 5, 2010 at 12:46 PM | Unregistered Commentermazzatron

:-) Ok i ll keep that in mind ... but maybe i'll just stick to my biannual trip to the lane

I saw the fulham game and am hoping to get tickets to another game this season , but they are very expensive and hard to come by. I understand that they give priority to local fans other then tourist fans like me ... It's normal but being a foreign yid sucks at times like these.

Even being a member doesn't help most of the time, I ended up having to apply for a season ticket as I was fed up of not being able to watch the best games! Even now I can't get a guest ticket next to my own god-damn seat! FOR PETERBOROUGH FFS!!!!

great performance in particular bale & bentley. A lot of the credit should go to Huddlestone & Jenas who totally dominated central midfield allowing everyone else to play around them. Well done keep it going.

wow that mug Jay is a prize clown. nickthfc LOVING your posts here - every one a classic. for anyone who didn't go and doesn't know, our fans at elland road were awesome, don't listen to Jay grumpy bollocks, he's just upset cause they won't see real football again for a while and won't get a good crowd in either ("you're only here for the tottenham"). good noise throughout from us yids, from 0-0 and good response singing to their goal. great away support. "spurs are on their way to wembley" in the 2nd half was immense, really rocking. and "oh when the spurs"

leeds fans were brilliant too. best home crowd i've ever seen. but to generalise that to all northern fans is a joke! leeds and stoke are the only decent northern fans i've ever seen. from big clubs like manure/liverpool to little clubs like wigan and blackburn, they're utter shite.

we didn't sell out but then wednesday night up north, and police wouldn't let the club put the tickets on general sale. on the topic of police they ballsed up after the match and the sad cunts who waited around for an hour to have a pop at us got to bombard us and wade in (to a crowd of scarfers) as their reward. they also hunted us in side roads and car parks. i'd rather have tin pot clubs like wigan and hull in the premiership than vicious cunts like leeds, who have nothing but violence against regular fans to make them feel big and give their lives some scrap of meaning
