Onwards, this beast of a team, onwards...

Hoping for three points tomorrow and a month that won’t end with yet another last second dramatic go on then why not transfer deal to Tottenham. Although if it did it would be the norm and fairly acceptable practice in the Spurs universe. And hardly anyone will scoff if it turns out to be another player of similar ilk to the Dutch maestro, our galvanising force behind our sparkling resurgence from the dark days of two points eight games. Hopefully Daniel Levy will spare a thought for Jim White on Sky Sports News and have our consolidation signings done and dusted well before the deadline to avoid his head from exploding as he eats the camera and pulls himself out of the television and into your living room.

Blog awards and some other bits and pieces looking back on 2010 will follow in early January. It’s been ridiculous these past twelve months. Heart strings pulled and plucked all over the place. Gone, it appears, are the constant lulls of pain and hurt. The shrugs of despondency when the realisation that yet another transitional season is upon us. What we have now is altogether a different experience. A renaissance.

We play with style. With spirit. With belief. We have world class players and ones that aspire to be. We’ve taken back the copyright, no longer clown princes but Kings of the Lane, and entertainers – domestically and abroad where we’ve injected the premier European competition with plenty of glory glory football.

And then there’s the glue. The sticky stuff. No, no, I’m not talking about excitable nights in watching  DVDs. But rather the glue that keeps it all together. This sustained progression, this onwards journey. Our soundbite happy gaffer. Bless him. And of course the supporters who for once - when we finally do have players of quality and a unit of players playing for each other, the badge and the support – we all manage to keep our feet firmly on the ground (be it with plenty of jumping up and down), enjoying every second of it. And why not. After so many years of false dawns, messiahs coming and going, internal politics and failed continental experiments – we flirt, genuinely flirt with the top tier as it seductively lifts its skirt up at us, panties on show, restrained salivating, first base no longer enough.

So, onwards may this majesty of THFC continue. We’re by no means the finished article. We have a lot of work to do. But in pure footballing terms, we have our Tottenham back.

Some bum slapping now. Massive thanks to:

Also all the Spurs fans on Twitter and the girls and boys of Facebook and all the new Spurs bloggers that have lost their blogging cheery this past year. And lest we forget the heathens at Glory Glory. If I've forgotton you, your cheque bounced.

Happy new year. To dare is to get very drunk.

Capital Punishment by Kris Mole - Ebook available here

extract:

Having blagged his way into a Barcelona FC press conference...

"My fantasy interview was cut short by someone entering the room talking on a mobile phone. I turned to see who it was and couldn’t believe my eyes. Xavi, all 5’7” of him (he’s a littl’un) was standing beside me having a chat to someone, probably his girlfriend, telling her he would be home for dinner soon and could she make sure there were a few San Miguels in the fridge. He glanced at me with a look that said,

“Who the **** are you?” and I nodded a greeting his way. He then looked down at the cockerel on my chest and sighed the kind of sigh that I knew meant, “If only they would put in a bid for me. I would love to play for Spurs one day.”

He finished his conversation and left me alone once again."

Its NYE /NYD and I'm drunk. Just about to go up and shag a beauty who also happens to be my partner. Thought i'd check newsnow and thus returned to this marvellous site. I'm hardly a regular poater but i and an accurate one - check out my previous predictions (i even called inter losing to bremmen). THis may well come back to haunt me, but on this day of new comings, I feel I have to go public. Spurs are heading for a top 3 finish, maybve even top 1. A look at the squuad, the players returning, the fixture list, its obvious to anyone who looks. That excludes the bookies apparently. Pile on Spurs to win the league, taking the each way odds.Bar a disastrous transfer of Modric, Bale, VDV or Lennon, we are heading for something special

Happy new year people hope everyone is recovering well. Perfect start if we brush Fulham aside. I can see Utd and Arsenal slipping up today but City winning. Got to keep it going.

Another way I know we've come a long way... I used to breathe a small sigh of relief if Man U (or at the time Liverpool, even Chelsea) would win because it would keep the scum from winning trophies. This weekend in particular, I'm expending prayers that all 4 of the teams that are with us fighting in top 5 lose. And the reason, I BELIEVE WE CAN WIN THE WHOLE THING. If Man U score a late winner against West Brom, I'll be bummed. I don't have to hope some other team keeps Arsenal from winning. I don't have to take solace in "well at least they didn't win." We're amongst it now. We're good and not just 'put a run together and wait for the bubble to pop good'. We're good enough to win it. For real..

Do me a flavor.........I know you're drunk mate, but could you have a look down and tell me how many arms you appear to have!? I'm guessing two? You're counting eight, aren't you.....?

I am sure the commercial aspects are golden with shirt sales and sponsors and the like but from a football view I could hardly be less keen on becks because he is past it and we do not need him and Lennon is getting back to his unplayable form of last season too.

Everton next and Stoke gave them a pounding today, belief is the key and at last we`ve got it in spades. The european success has triggered the momentum to believe and therfore achieve, guarantee we`ve got the best dressing room spirit in the premiership, Bale, Modric & VDV are exceptional. Charlton in the cup with Beckhams free kicks in the second half, bring it on ####### Magic Harry, Can`t wait for your next trick...............maybe a striker from Athletico Bilbao at the right money. You`ve made 2010 and i`m excited, well done guys give it some welly in 2011.

I know. I should be happy. But look at that tired bunch of players out there today and, it gets me worried about the Everton Game. At least Defoe will be back for Stoke. Lennon was brutal today, he could have passed the ball twice and he went for glory, he's like a chicken without a head. Pav is a lazy cunt and has to be dispatched, trouble is no one wants him. I am glad Everton are loosing Cahill to the Asia's Cup and they cannot rotate their team as they will be tired come Wednesday.
I'm glad Beckham is coming and it's not for his football skills. Harry knows that having players around our boys who have won things will rub off. You can see it with Gallas (Okay he won FA with the Arse) but he has a winning, never say die attitude, so has Beckham, so has Parker. We need the three of them to rise to the top. Harry will do it and he already has a striker (you knew that the minute he said ' The Chairman wants to splash the cash).
WE ARE VERY GOOD AND IN HARRY AND LEVY I TRUST. LETS GET AMONG THEM.

Jan 2, 2011 at 1:29 AM | Unregistered Commentercookiebun

Harry on Bentley "Bentley keeps picking up injuries on Friday morning." Not that I needed to hear any more confirmation about him but he HAS to go. And I bet there is ZERO bid for him out there and Harry wants him out.

No doubt Beckham's addition will be more impactful off the pitch than on it but I think it's well worth the signing.

@cookiebun....I'm lukewarm on Pav generally but I agree on his current form being AWFUL. First touch terrible. Had balls played into him in dangerous areas and he wasn't able to do anything. Should have been taken off at the half and I bet he would have been had we not been forced to make the sub for Hutton. I disagree about Lennon. I think he was very good overall. He linked well with Corluka and created some chances. I agree he made a poor choice going for goal when he had the 3 on 2 late on. He should have laid off to Jenas but 'brutal' is extremely harsh, almost wonder if you need to rewatch the game. I do agree they looked a bit tired today and it is worrying for the Everton match. That said, we can freshen it up a bit. Obviously Corluka will get the shout and he should be well rested. Bassong, Jenas, and Crouch can all come on as well to provide a bit of legs. That would be 4 changes to the sides 10 outfield players and I don't see any reason to feel performance would fall off.

Arsenal's performance at Birmingham was very good, I'm at pains to add and Man City and Man U both managed to eke out 3pts. The "Big 5" are pulling away now, great to see we are amongst it but I do feel we need more goals from our strikers to really win it all.

Does anyone think that Pav's recent run of games is a "put him in the shop window" type move to get someone to come in for him (that has probably backfired)?

Jan 2, 2011 at 1:47 AM | Unregistered Commentertim

If we can get llorente from Bilbao for 7-9mil, at 6`2" and only 25 tied into a 5 year contract, this guy must be the most versatile striker in europe at present, great in the air, cleaver with the ball at his feet and can play wide either side, can hold up play as reqd and strong inthe challenge, he`s a team on his own, Harry will go for him the only problem may be the buy out clause, Mr Levy it`s over to you, Keane/o`Hara for Parker sounds like a plan. Let`s push forward to the final frontier, fearing no-one, challenging all. Living the dream.........Glory Days are here at the lane yet again.

Happy new year all.

I fucking love this club.

Even if we do sign becks......

I'm trying very hard to keep my feet on the ground. Trust me, it's a tough job. Ain't it amazing when things just gel together and everything works like clockwork. Boy, I just love the way we're playing at the moment. Long may it continue.

Kudos to Harry. Credit where credit's due. Never thought I'd hear myself say that about Harry, but he's done great so far. Onwards forward keep the faith

Chelsea dropping points to Villa..........Magic, left the bar in disgust when they took the lead, heard the mad roar and went back just in time to catch the equiliser replay..............now we`re 4th played same number of games..........Everton on Wed but we have to be patient, no going behind this time giving us a mountain to climb, Cahill is a big loss to them................Respect them but believe in your own ability, Wake me up someboby.
