Let's be 'aving some of that Glory Glory

Three key elements for tonight's game.

1) Forget about Saturday

2) Don't get complacent

3) Do not under estimate the opposition

Stick all of the above together with some glue made up from a paste of swagger and belief.

A win would see us qualify. Imagine that, through the group stages at the first time of asking in our début season. Fully deserved that would be too what with our refreshing approach, whether it's dismantling the opposition or giving them a head start - we've left our mark all over the competition. The scratches made hardly the ones of cowboys. These Spurs are real.

Bremen are struggling, which is why it's key to be focused completely on treating the opposition with a degree of respect and not allowing them take a cheap early lead which could easily allow their confidence to breed. Their league form might be woeful as of late (6-0, 4-0 defeats), but I still say - be cautious. Sometimes an escape from domestic hell can be the perfect remedy for a home headache.

Having said all that, I don't want to be over-bearing with the negativity (thinking the worst). I'm just weary that there is a twist and turn wherever Tottenham ply their trade. Not too much respect then.

Opening 20 minutes will tell us how we should compete in the remaining 70. I might have it all wrong, the Germans might be as bad as their bread and butter results which means we could well be in for a party as we march onwards. Let's just wait for the invite to be handed out before we pop the streamers.

One party that will no doubt start before the kick-off is in the stands. The atmosphere will be electric, he said. Yes it will, they replied. Another Glory Glory night within our grasp, the home support will still be buzzing from the dicking handed out to them lot down the road. That should aid with the expectancy on the players shoulders, who should not be weighed down with pressure. This position we are in, it's a good one and should be enjoyed.

We're a decent side, more than decent, who have already displayed the balls and guile to be rewarded with a potential knock-out gem of a tie in the next round. Let's prove how deserving we are. And Harry along with the leadership and tenacity of our unofficial captain of galvanisation (van der Vaart) are taking us forward with the rest of a rather sparkling supporting cast. No knees are trembly here.

The attitude has to be right from the off. Whether we fight it out or brush them aside, this is another potential history-making night. You can't help but feel giddy with excitement. One player to keep an eye on is Jermaine Defoe who has told us countless times how the hairs on the back of his neck would stand when listening to the CL music whilst watching it at home. That was when Spurs were dreaming about playing at this level. We now are and JD gets his chance to shine in the group stage.

Fingers crossed Bale and the Raf are available to start. Another Interesque performance in terms of application and focus will have me queuing up at the Spurs Shop for the dvd 'Group A' highlights package post-final whistle.

We want 90 minutes, not a cameo of 45.

So, no after the Lord Mayors Show reverse hang-over from Prem to Europe please Tottenham.

To dare is to f*cking do.

I wish we had more games like that.

How come we played Arsenal twice within 5 days ?

Nov 24, 2010 at 11:29 PM | Unregistered CommenterDAVID

It's settled, we need to play attacking football all the time. Bremen were simply terrible though, it was like Spurs were playing an bottom rung MLS team. There's still no reason barring injuries that we can't do some damage in the CL KO. I can't recall a game that we won with such ease....oh yes young boys at WHL........Neverthess it's now time to forget the CL for a while and bear down in the league. The Twente game is right before Chelski at home, that would be a great game to give Niko, Wilson and Corluka and maybe even Bentley a run out so we're fresher 5 days later.

Another classy performance from Gallas.

Was not sure he still had it in him but Harry knew.

Hope he can dig up a striker in January the same way.

You know, I really think some of the trolls on here are Spooky in disguise, to give us a bit of a laugh, bless him. What aroused my suspicion is that even Arsenal fans can't be as brainless as some of the less cultured around here have been over the past few days. Can they?

Anyone think that Palacios looked way better tonight? Or was it just because Bremen were so shite?

Canada Yid , his passing was way better this time but i do think the fact that Bremen were utter shite helped him settle in the team

Anyone know how badly injured JJ is ?

Dubaispur, no mate , they really are that thick and you probably don't believe me but all the ones trolling here are in the upper half of Arse fans when it comes to their IQ ...

Palacious looked better at snapping into tackles, but was still poor on his distribution.

Still when he sits alongside modric, it is less of an issue. Jenas off injured, down to the bones in defnece and midfield now, next up keepers and strikers.

Nice to see Bale get a bit of a rest for sunday, and Defoe looking hungrier than a bear looking for porridge that was 'just right'.

Proud of Spurs at the mo. Think Redknapp deserves a bit more respect from the haters and knee jerkers.
Good to see Lennon playing with confidence.

"Good to see Lennon playing with confidence"

That was a big positive for me last night. He had it fairly easy but maybe he needed a game like that to get a bit of that confidence back

Good time to take some perspective. Couple of weeks ago Spurs were booed off with plenty slating the players and manager. Now everyone is ecstatic with the players and Harry and talk of the title. Fact is we are not shit or perfect but plenty still end up seeing only those two categories. Could say no harm done but it is tough to see how the players will see us as loyal when so many turn at the drop of a hat. So lets try to keep some perspective at either end in the future.

Jenas out is a big setback, let's hope he recovers quickly.

Palacios did look better, and had more energy, bit still a shoadow of his former self. One more injury in centre midfield, and we could be in trouble.

Bale was great, at half pace, and at least he got a bit of a rest during the game. I knew he wouldn't score the pen, he is not that type of player, more instinctive, better at shooting suddenly than taking his time.

I know Pav missed his pen recently, but think the strikers need to step up for the pens.

Massive plus for me was Lennon who actually looks like he might be getting good again.

A lot of decisions to be made for the team on Sunday I think. And to the previous poster, I think it would be better to play our best possible side against Twente to try to seal the top spot in the group. Avoid Valencia and AC, and we should be able to make to quarters, beating Arsenal over two legs.

I'd take anyone in the Semis, we'll have the momentum to take us through then of course the final is in London this year, and we'll win it. Probably against Real.

I think Dubaispur is right...consider this from redterry - "another fluke, uv had an easy group so dont get carried away, enjoy it while it lasts yidscum, wait until u come up against some real champions league pedigree! twats". This can't be a real Arsenal fan can it? It's got to be a piss take.

I was a bit worried when Palacios came on, but to be fair, he did really well - good tackling, nice and simple distribution, combined quite well with Luka and didn't get booked. Lennon is coming back into form - great to see. Gallas is putting in some assured and professional performances for us too.

also, special mention to Crouch who worked his massive, long socks off.

Three wins in a row. First clean sheet in what, fifteen games or so? Lennon coming good. Even Krancjar has 15 minutes.

But...

1. We need to build on this. Liverpool at home, must be a win to keep pace with the leading pack. Liverpool always seem to play better against the bigger teams, but somehow lost the last two games at WHL. We need to do what Stoke did. You can also be sure they will stick someone onto Bale, Modric perhaps even Vdv.

2. The mounting injury list is becoming a concern. Who's going to partner Modric? Sandro? Wilson? Krancjar?

3. If you noticed, Hutton bombs forward, needlessly gives the ball away, and leaves a gap behind. Happened a few times. More cunning opponents would have taken advantage of this. When Dawson / Woodgate / King return, Kaboul should move to RB and rotate with Corluka.

4. Hutton could be cover for the right wing. Bentley then becomes even more redundant.

5. Why havent we heard anything about any promising youngsters? Rose? Bostock? The young Czech striker, Pekhart? Ryan Mason? I mean, if the senior players cannot perform or are injured, why not promote from within instead of always buying new players?

6. We need to work on penalty-taking. Dropping too many goals, and points because of it. Everton last season and L'Arse couple of years back spring to mind.
